A Christ-centered Charlotte Mason enrichment community for homeschooling families.

A quiet place to learn together.
We are mothers teaching our own children, and gladly sharing the work.Abiding Way Cottage School is a Christ-centered enrichment co-op for homeschooling families in Jacksonville. We meet one day a week to study the things that are hard to do alone — Shakespeare read aloud in a room full of voices, a folk dance that needs more than one pair of feet, a painting looked at slowly and then described from memory.
Every family participates. Parents teach, assist, and carry the day together, which is what keeps the co-op small, affordable, and unmistakably ours.
Three things we will not hurry.

A living education
Whole books by authors who loved their subject, and narration instead of worksheets. The child does the work of knowing.

A generous feast
Shakespeare, poetry, picture study, composer study, handicrafts, folk dance and drill — spread wide and offered freely.

Mothers, together
This is a co-op, not a drop-off. We teach beside each other and are better for the company.

One day a week, unhurried.
Wednesdays, September through May.Arrival at nine, assembly at half past, morning lessons in small mixed-age groups, lunch outdoors when the weather allows, and afternoon studies before we go home again at half past one.
What we hold to.
Christ at the center
Every subject, every habit, every hour belongs to him. He is not a class we add; he is the ground we stand on.
Living over lifeless
Whole books written by people who loved their subject, in place of textbooks assembled by committee.
Slow & thoughtful
Short lessons, full attention, and time left over. We would rather do less well than more poorly.
Habit as kindness
Good habits are a gift to a child, not a burden laid on them. They make the right thing easy.
Wonder protected
We do not explain away what a child could notice. Awe is the beginning of knowledge, not a reward for it.
Mothers, together
No one carries this alone. We teach beside each other, and we are better for the company.

Abide in me, and I in you…John 15:4
Giving keeps the door open.
Gifts go to books, art supplies, and the room we meet in.We are a small parent-run co-op, and a gift of any size does real work here — a set of living books for the shared shelf, watercolors and clay for handicrafts, or a family’s tuition quietly covered.
